We are looking for 4 more sponsors for Jerseys. Sponsors get their name and logo on a Jersey, and the team is named after them.

Cost is $350, and Jersey's generally last at least 2 season. Talk to your accountant/tax man it may even be a write off.....need a good tax guy? Email Dan Baker. :)

A not so friendly reminder.

If you bring crap to the gym take it home with you or dispose of it properly.

Properly would mean in a garbage bin, a recycling bin, your buddies gym bag.....OR take it home with you and dispose of it there. Leaving crap in the gym just puts our permits at risk. That means you don't get to play basketball.

Simple. Now do it.

Week 1 is in the books.

Although the calendar says week 2, it was actually week 1, and it is over.

Game 1. Team Blue vs. Team Green:
Although Team Green jumped out to an early 17 point lead they ended up losing in the end. Maybe it was the fact they only had 6 players

Game 2. Team White vs Team Yellow:
Team Yellow was winning most of the game but in the end the oldest team in the league pulled out a victory. Captain Markovic will have to wait until next week to notch his first victory.

Game 3. Team Red vs. Team Grey:
This game was kind of close for 2 and a half quarters and then Red got tired.....likely because they had nobody on their bench.

Permit is active again.

Just confirming that the league will start on October 15th, the first week of games will be moved to the end of the season.

2019-2020 Season

Please note that tryouts are currently taking place.

Tryout #1: Sept 17th 8-10pm at BHS
Tryout #2: Sept 24th 8-10pm at BHS
Tryout #3: Oct 1st 8-10pm at BHS

Draft will take place at 10pm, at Frosty Johns.

League Fees are $300, Cash/Cheque or E-Transfer. Payment MUST be made by 9pm on October 1st to be considered for play in the 2019-2020 season. Anyone who pays but doesn't get drafted to a team will have their money returned.

Note: We will NOT be using the Gym at Duke of Cambridge PS, instead we will be using CCCS for the 815-915 games.

Changes Tabled:
#1: *PASSED* All players must play 50% of games or they are returned to the rookie pool. (executive has right to rule on players, ie. Shifts, Injury etc)
#2: *PASSED* Lower age limit to 16.
#3: *REJECTED* Consider playing on a night other then Tuesday.
#4: *PASSED* Use a gym other then BHS, as long as it is High School sized.
#5: *PASSED* Timeouts should be acted on by the scorekeeper as soon as it is called by the team captain, or appointed captain.IE. Not wait until the referees has passed directed them too.

2018-2019 Champions - Team White "Clarington Chiropractic Clinic"

Congratulations to Team White. They outlasted Team Blue in the 8pm game, and then snuck by Team Grey to win the Championship at 9pm.

Hope to see lots of people out for the AGM at Frosty's on Saturday. The AGM will start between 2 and 230pm.

Championship Game

Since people are asking, and to confirm what others have already been told.

The Championship game at 9pm Blue/White vs Grey is winner takes all. If Grey loses there will not be a game 11, instead Grey can claim they were ripped off......and we can all hear how everyone is out to get to Team Grey.....ironic since two weeks ago we were apparently trying to make it easy for Team Grey.

AGM NEWS:


We have reserved Frosty's starting at 2pm for the AGM on Saturday May 25th, we hope to see a good turnout this year.

Also we have reserved 4 foursomes at the Bowmanville Golf Club, please let either Dan, Jay or Jay know if you plan on golfing so we can ensure we have space.

Playoff Schedule.

Listen, I know there have been a lot of questions and/or complaints about the schedule this year.

Keep in mind these points.

#1. We have limited gym time, as we do not want playoff games happening at Duke.
#2. It is a double elimination tournament, hence the idea is to knock teams out when and where possible.
#3. Due to the actions of some members we (the Exec) tried to ensure Team Blue would have enough players available for their games, and adjusted based on that.

Concerns that have been raised:
"This works out so in favour of Team Grey"
-Maybe it did, but you know what they did, they won the first two games they played. No other team did that.

"My team is going to end up playing more games then other teams"
-Lucky you, more games.....same cost.

"Hoar set-up the schedule to his benefit"
-Yes, I planned it so I'd have off weeks when I'm sitting at home, and that I'd be away next week for my game.

"This league sucks, I could do a better job"
-Perfect, contact one of us and nominate yourself for one of the Exec positions, show up at the AGM and maybe you will get elected.

"I'm done with this league, good luck finding guys next year"
-Sorry you feel that way, we will miss you. (Note that was typed in a sarcastic font that might not show up on your screen) The league has been around for 50+ years I think it can survive.

Team GREY and Team WHITE will have a Bye in Week 2.

Suspended players, and note about playoff format.

In regards to the fight that took place during the 8pm game last Tuesday, April 9th, between Red and Blue the following players have been suspended from the league for 1 year.

The suspension is effective from April 10th, 2019 until April 10th, 2020. If the players would like to return to the league they would be eligible to be drafted as rookies in September of 2020.

*Note about Playoffs and final week of games*
In a effort to have no games take place in the small Duke gym we will only have two games per week, we will still follow the double elimination style format that has been super hard to understand from years past.

Week 1 of playoffs will be

8pm: Team Blue (DTP) vs Sixth Place Team
9pm: Team White (CCC) vs Fifth Place Team

Note: 3rd and 4th place teams will have a Bye week.

Incase you haven't looked on the standings page (with 1 week remaining here are the point totals)
